Making Fishing Accessible for Everyone

Lake Minnetonka, MN North Arm Public Access ramp project

Lake Minnetonka, MN

With the recent formation of the Wheelchairs & Walleyes Minnesota chapter, to say things are happening with lightning speed in MN are an understatement!

Earlier this year Wheelchairs & Walleyes traveled to Minnesota in order to meet with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and representatives from Lake Waconia and Lake Minnetonka. After a day worth of touring some of Minnesota’s most beautiful lakes, W&W returned back to ND with a mission. That mission was to make sure that all people, regardless of their physical abilities, were able to enjoy the amazing natural resources that Minnesota has to offer, whenever they choose, without fear of being a burden to their loved ones

The task was handed to W&W Minnesota Chapter Co-chairwoman Dianne Scott. It didn’t take more than a few weeks before the Wheelchairs & Walleyes Lake Minnetonka ADA wheelchair project came to life.

The leaders of Hennepin County, Minnesota DNR, Wheelchairs & Walleyes, and the architects at IMO Consulting Group got together, and designed what is arguably the most advanced, inclusive, and accessible public use facility ever designed for public lake access.

Slated for an opening of spring 2026, this facility is one that is guaranteed to produce life long memories for generations to come. So please, follow along with W&W as we change the national landscape of boating access one lake at a time. We encourage you to get involved with this project. Volunteer your time. Donate today! Because without you, this will not be possible.
